GRAZIA STYLE AWARDS!

Sitting in my fresh smelling tidy apartment as a result of a productive cleaning session, I can still feel the panadol slowly sinking through my throat. Yes.. It’s that kind of morning.. After finally closing down a week in which I have been styling 5 fashion shows, attended 6 events and managed to do a few work out sessions too, my head is pounding and begging me for mercy. Perhaps the 3 vodka cranberrys at the Splash fashion show last night are also slightly guilty for creating the feeling of someone hitting a hammer on top of my head, however – even that is not going to stop me from writing about one of the most “happening” events this year – The Grazia style awards!

Every year one of my favourite magazines Grazia (nope- not ass kissing here) recognises local and global talent by handing them out an overly heavy mantel piece that certainly means you have made it in life :-)

The event which was sponsored by Pandora, was a sit down dinner with some of the most influential and certainly “interesting” people in Dubai. Each year the sponsor of the Grazia style awards hosts an intimate 10 seat table with – what they believe – are the top bloggers in Dubai – And lucky me – I got a golden ticket!

While rubbing shoulders – and complaining about the extreme overdose of Hummous in our 3 course dinner – I shared my table with some of my favourite bloggers; Previously Grazia blogger of the year winner Nadya Hasan from the the fierce diaries – Paul Ramos from the Style Choreo – Talented dutchie beauty blogger Najla Kaddour and off course my fave standard PIC – Kat Lebrasse from Lebrasse.com.

What we did not know – or at least not until the whispers started while dining – is that one of the bloggers at our table would soon become the Grazia style awards Blogger of the year! And just as I am about to poor myself another Ciroc diet sprite in order to help me feeling more tolerant about the 25 minutes belly dance act that just finished, I hear a voice saying: And the Blogger of the year award goes to… KAT LEBRASSE! YES.. KAT f-ing Lebrasse! While spastically jumping off my chair to cheer and scream for Kat – who is one of the most hard working, friendiest and consistent bloggers in Dubai – I for a second don’t care what everyone thinks of my embarrassing happy dance in the middle of 45 tables x 10 people x 2 judging eyes!

Luckily I soon decided to pull my dress straight, sit down, cross my legs and put on a porcelain face – to nicely blend into the crowd.

Besides from that being one of my most favourite highlights of the night, there were also some other lucky nominees and winners. Congrats to Nadine Kanso for being nominated as jewellery brand of the year, Zeina, Shawn and their full team for working hard on making TheOutnet win the best international online retailer, and Stevie and his team at Christian Louboutin for winning the Best Luxury Shoe Brand!
