This Spring summer the runway was bombarded with trends; artful prints, athletic silhouettes, crop tops, white on white, flatform shoes and a gazillion other trends that I can’t get enough of! But one trend stands out in specific: the tribal trend! From ethnic prints to safari colors and beaded accessories, it is all super HOT as we speak! No worries, you don’t need to get your face-paint out and build up your tribal tent for a gathering on how to wear this trend. Because it can be quite tricky to style yourself tribal and still look civilized… Www.Bysymphony.com is giving bloggers the challenge to show our must have Spring summer pieces so I tried really hard to put a moodboard together in which i can show you guys my favorite trend, some hot new brands and how to wear them.

I guess it is clear to see what my favorite tribal picks are and what trends are super HOT right now! I already mentioned before how much I love the sandal trend and the comfort of the footwear this season. Marni made these super awesome embelished sandals which are soooo tribal! Be sure to combine them with something smart in order to not look like you are homeless though :-)

Another thing that is super hot this season is stacking bracelets. Not only for the tribal trend, but also for your evening looks or office look. In the moodboard I stacked up some bracelets from Carolina Bucci. You can buy them all individually so get ready to combine those colours matching your outfit.

Something else I really want to highlight – and you probably have seen me wear it many times – is wearing a sweatshirt on top of a skirt. It is a way to creat a sporty but still elegant and girly look. In the moodboard I have combined a sweatshirt and skirt from Peter Pilotto.

The cool part of making this moodboard was that I came across some really cool brands which I have to share with you! The first one is Mother of pearl. This brand – that is also sold at BySymphony.com – knows very well how to combine prints and still look super duper fashionable. See below a moodboard I made with some of my favorite SS14 picks. (Resort & SS collection)
Mother of pearl is founded by Maia Norman who is an avid sportswoman and fashion enthusiast. The clothes are a result of working together with several artist to create amazing paterns and prints. The colors and silhouettes are fun and rich while staying true to the sports luxe aesthetics of the brand. Fusing signature sportswear and luxurious fabrics I feel it is a brand full with stories and culture. Defenately a brand to watch! And yes.. this is also for sale at Bysymphony.com :-)

Then I have to tell you guys about a brand I was already familliar with, and which is – FOR SURE – one of the hottest and most promising upcoming brands – Stella Jean. I have fallen in love with her designs and I am not the only one who has. A lot of celebs already are spotted wearing stella Jean. Stella Jean is one of this season’s most talked-about names, and one of Milan’s brightest emerging fashion stars. Born in Rome, but with Haitian roots, she sees fashion as a means of bridging cultures, as proved in her bold, ethnic-inspired designs that fly off the shelves as soon as they arrive in stores. Her label follows what she calls a “wax and stripes philosophy” – the wax represents her mother’s Haitian origins, while the stripes (which are prevalent in many of her designs) symbolize her father’s Turin roots.
Some fun facts I found about Stella Jean:
– Franca Sozzani was wearing Stella Jean while she was in Dubai for the big Vogue experience fashion show!
– This season, Giorgio Armani selected Jean to show in his Teatro space – the first time that the designer has opened his catwalk venue to another womenswear designer.
– For spring/summer 2014 Stella worked with the International Trade Centre to source prints made by women living in villages in Burkina Faso.
– Next to being an amazing fashion designer Stella Is also a mother of 2
– Jean’s route into fashion design was unorthodox – she started her career as a model, but always felt at home in design studios.
So now you might wonder how other people Style themselves with touches of tribal? No need to look farther.. I already collected some images with Tribal and Ethnic inspired Streetstyle for you!
So the final question is.. are you diggin the Tribal trend? If so.. rush over the BySymphony store or go shop online onwww.bysymphony.com. And in case I still haven’t conviced you.. still go and check out by Symphony as they have way way way more awesome stuff!
