This week I got lucky enough to participate in something super amazing.. Le plus grand défilé du monde! I got the opportunity to walk in the biggest fashion show in the world, that took place in the middle of the streets of Paris! 400 lucky fashionista’s got selected to express their own style in 4 different categories. Oiseaux de nuit (nightbird) Cocktail Time, Tea Party and Matin Urbain.
I got selected to be in the nightbird category, which was decided upon the type of clothes you picked to wear for the show. Unfortunately the category turned out a bit more Gothic than I expected. Oh well.. at-least I can tick that of my list ;-)
The “backstage” was held at the Hotel Salomon de Rothschild, a dream place that all competing fashion brands use for their best events. All the 400 models had to arrive early for our makeup & hair. Our make-up was done under direction of Christophe Danchaud. Having worked numerous designers such as Dior, Chanel and Karl Lagerfeld, he is THE makeup artist in France. Every category had its own theme. For the “nightbirds” the makeup was dark and dramatic. A full equipped team of L’oreal hairstylists were there to transform our pretty boring hairdo’s into something amazing! For “nightbirds” the guideline was messy, gothic and a dash of color… My hair, done by Madeleine Cofano, looked a bit like a birds nest.. very appropriate for the theme.
I felt lucky enough to finally wear my dress by one of my favorite evening wear designers: Marchesa.. The dress has some pretty amazing embellishments out of stones and black feathers.. as cherry on the cake, I made a black bird headpiece and a handmade bracelet for my SIN collection.
After the preparations it was finally showtime! Can you believe it? 400 model on a catwalk of 30 meter long.. and believe me.. that was the longest 30 meter I ever walked!
It was sooo amazing to be part of a fashion-show that was full with diverse creativity and personal styles. In the theme; “Fashion is you” the task was to dress up in order to express what you think is fashion, and i am sure that was accomplished!
GET READY FOR SOME SERIOUS SCROLLING!
